Although elected, this is an UNPAID/VOLUNTEER role. This person represents the district to the local Democratic Party (district Leader) and to the State Democratic Party (State Committee.) They coordinate election day jobs as poll workers and communicate party agenda to residents.
When elected, Naomi will work to ensure the Democratic party is inclusive of all community members and that political news is COMMUNICATED. She will represent community needs and hold Elected Officials accountable. Naomi's main focus is: public safety, reduction in gun violence, elder scams, foreclosure prevention, voting + voter education, speeding and illegal parking, access to jobs and small business support and the creation of state-of-the-art healthcare for our aging adults and blooming families.
Naomi is a daughter of Brooklyn and, more importantly, a mother in Mill Basin. She is an all-around neighbor’s neighbor. Naomi’s roots are from the American South and the Caribbean; her family first came to New York in 1920 and to Brooklyn in the 1950’s. She was raised by her parents who are also lifelong Brooklynites. Her mother Joyce is a retired Clerk from Kings County Family Court and father Kevin is a retired MTA Bus Driver who now drives a non-profit library bus to local schools. Naomi’s sister is a Howard University and CUNY alum and works in Social Services and Naomi is a proud alumna of Temple University and Saint Peter’s.
For too long decisions have been made in secret and behind closed doors. We deserve to be included in conversations about our community and part of the decision-making process.
